FOSTER AND KINSHIP CARE
MCDATSIC’s Foster and Kinship Program is about keeping our Ghundu (children) strong in culture, family, and community. We work to make sure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are placed in culturally safe, loving homes, with family, kin, or trusted community members wherever possible. We know our kids grow up strongest when they stay connected to their mob, their stories, and their Country, surrounded by people who know who they are and where they come from.

First and foremost, and always guided by what’s best for the child, MCDATSIC works towards bringing our Ghundu home. Where it’s safe to do so, we support families to reunify in a timely, respectful, and culturally supported way, walking alongside them to build strength, safety, and stability. When reunification isn’t possible straight away, we keep culture at the centre — supporting carers, families, and community to make sure our children stay connected, supported, and growing up proud in their identity.
